About the event

There are so many ways for children to learn through exploring the outdoors. By searching for and studying the plants that surround us, children and adults alike can study science, ecology, history, health... and better understand our relationship to the world around us and the dynamics of that world. We will learn plant names, various uses of the plants (historical and current), and explore these uses through tea, "potions", crafting, and simple observation.

Instructor: Nathaniel Whitmore

Nathaniel Whitmore grew up on a farm in Damascus, PA and at a young age became interested in edible and medicinal plants under the tutelage of local shaman Taterbug Tyler. He continued to study herbalism through various avenues as well as shiatsu (acupressure), and eventually settled into a practice of private herbal consultations and shiatsu sessions. He has taught about wild plants and mushrooms for over 20 years, leading walks and offering classes, and has focused on educating kids through homeschool groups, camps, schools, and fathering.
